Deer Feet

After a little debate with myself, I've decided to update at 2:00 in the morning. As great as sleep sounds, the urge to post a more positive blog than the last is just too strong. I think it's safe to say my funk is officially over. Praise God.

All semester I've been committed to reading the Old Testament. On Wednesday morning, I read the 3rd and final chapter of Habakkuk, and God really tugged on my heart with verses 17-19:

17Though the fig tree does not bud
and there are no grapes on the vines,
though the olive crop fails
and the fields produce no food,
though there are no sheep in the pen
and no cattle in the stalls,

18yet I will rejoice in the LORD,
I will be joyful in God my Savior.

19The Sovereign LORD is my strength;
he makes my feet like the feet of a deer,
he enables me to go on the heights.

What an amazing way to start my day. God knew exactly what I needed to hear. I only wish I had been open to hearing it sooner. Not only have these past couple of weeks shown me how much my contentment relies on God, but they've shown me how faithful God is in that he will provide me with the strength I need to persevere. He deserves rejoicing even when life seems to be going nowhere.

And when I feel like life is doing just that. Going nowhere. That is when God reminds me of His power, making my feet like the feet of a deer, enabling me to go on the heights.

...and God knew I needed to hear that. Thanks for sharing it was really encouraging during this frustrating time I'm having with my mono. Even though we haven't spent time together in years I love that we can be in contact and encouraged by each others' blogs!
